A digital wedding guest book is any way of collecting guests' messages that does not involve a pen and a book that ends up in a drawer. In 2026 that means three quite different products: QR-code galleries where guests type or record a message on their phone alongside their photos, vintage-style audio guestbook phones that guests pick up at the reception, and call-in services for the people who could not come. This guide compares nine of them on what guests can leave (written, voice, video), what guests need to do it, and what it costs, with every price read from the company's own page on 19 September 2026 unless a different date is given. Short answer: if you want voices, rent a phone (After the Tone, The Guestbook Phone, LifeOnRecord) or use a QR app whose guestbook records audio in the browser (EventPixel, Wedibox, GuestCam, WedUploader). If you want video messages, GuestPix, Wedibox and Kululu take them and EventPixel does not. The three kinds of digital guest book
1. QR-code galleries with a guestbook built in
The photo-sharing app you already use for guest photos has a guestbook section: guests scan the same code, type a message or record one, and it lands in the couple's dashboard next to the photos. No second QR code, no second product, and the messages sit with the memories they belong to. The trade-off is that guests have to notice the guestbook button; a table sign that says "leave us a message" matters as much as the feature.
2. Audio guestbook phones
A restored or replica rotary phone on a table with a small sign. Guests lift the handset, hear the couple's greeting, and talk after the tone. It is theatrical in the best way, guests queue for it late in the evening, and the recordings are the thing couples say they replay. The costs are real: $190 to $300 to rent, shipping both ways, a return window after the wedding, and the recordings live on a memory card or the vendor's site rather than with your photos.
3. Call-in and remote services

1. EventPixel: messages and voicemails next to the photos
EventPixel is a QR photo-sharing app with a wedding website, and the guestbook is a section of that site. Guests open the event link or tap the guestbook button on the upload page, and get two options: Leave a Message, where they type a name and a note, and Leave a Voicemail, where they tap record, allow the microphone, speak and send, re-recording if they fluff it. Nothing to install and no account; the same code on the table that collects photos collects the messages. On the dashboard the couple reads the messages, plays the voicemails and downloads them as audio files, and can switch either section off under Manage Features if they only want one (how the guestbook works).
Both parts are on every paid plan, so from the $19 / ₹1,499 Classic plan up; on a free event the toggles are visible but locked. The free printable templates include "Photo Guestbook" and "Leave a memory" table cards, which is the sign that gets the button noticed.
Where it falls short: no video messages, no dial-in number, no physical phone. If a rotary handset on a table is part of the picture you want, rent one from the vendors below and keep EventPixel for the photos and typed notes. Verdict: the right guestbook if you are already using EventPixel for the wedding, because it costs nothing extra and the voices sit with the photos; not a reason to choose it over a phone if the phone is the point.
2. Wedibox: the fullest guestbook in a QR app
Wedibox's Wedding plan ($49 one-time) bundles a digital guestbook that takes written messages, photos, video messages and an audio guestbook it describes as "voices you will replay for years", behind one QR code, with a wedding website. All-In-One ($79) adds RSVP and seating. The free plan and the $29 Embed plan (a widget for a website you already have) do not include the guestbook at all. 3. GuestCam: audio guestbook with a phone number
GuestCam's audio guestbook comes on both of its per-event plans, Standard ($49) and Premium ($97), recorded in the browser or through what it calls PhoneBooth. Premium includes a dial-in phone number; on Standard the dedicated number is a $30 one-time add-on, US and Canadian numbers only, bought during setup. That number is what lets an aunt in another country leave a message from her landline. Verdict: the QR app to pick if remote guests are the priority. Note that GuestCam has no free tier. 4. GuestPix: written and video, no audio
GuestPix includes a "Written & Video Guestbook" on all three of its wedding packages, Classic, Signature and Signature Bundle, and pitches the video guestbook at guests who cannot attend. There is no audio or voicemail option. The free "Wedding Demo" is 50 photos with a 30-day upload window. 5. Kululu: wishes, photos and video, no app or registration
Kululu's guestbook takes photos, videos and decorated text "wishes" from a URL or QR code with no app and no registration, and the results feed its live photo wall. No audio. The free plan is 50 uploads with a 24-hour upload window and a gallery viewable for seven days, which is a demo rather than a wedding; paid plans are on its pricing page and were not on the guestbook page when we read it. 6. WedUploader: guestbook and voicemails into your own Drive
WedUploader collects into a Google Drive you own, and its premium package "enables guest captions & messaging in the private digital guestbook" and "enables guests to leave private heartfelt voicemails". The price renders by currency on its page; on 6 August 2026 the "Limitless" tier was $39 one-time covering every album on the account. The free tier is upload-only into Drive with no guestbook. 7. After the Tone: the rotary phone rental
After the Tone rents restored vintage telephones in eleven colours, each listed at "regular price $299.00+", with a "book now, choose later" option at the same price. The collection page does not state the rental length or what ships with the phone, so read the product page before you book. Verdict: the best-known phone and the one guests recognise; budget the $299 as a second product on top of whatever handles the photos.
8. The Guestbook Phone: the cheaper phone with a playback device
The Guestbook Phone rents a vintage rotary phone with your custom greeting installed: DIY at $189.99 (phone, greeting, removable memory card) or VIP at $249 in black, white, pink or blue, adding a cream vintage message player and a sign. Battery powered, no line needed, free shipping and a free return label, with a three-day return window after the event; recordings save to the memory card, which you play back on the included device. Verdict: the phone to rent if $299 is too much and you want the recordings in your hand the same night.
9. LifeOnRecord: call-in first, phone optional
LifeOnRecord is a service rather than a device: $99 a year covers the recording line, human-reviewed audio clean-up (noise reduction, levelling), searchable transcripts, a playlist page and downloads. Guests who cannot attend call a number, send a WhatsApp voice message or email a file, and it all lands in the same "My Recordings" page where you can name, trim and reorder. A vintage phone for the reception is a $149 to $199 rental on top, with a $49 keepsake speaker and a $149 vinyl record as extras. Verdict: the pick when half the family is abroad, and the only one here that transcribes.
How to choose: four questions
- Do you already have a QR photo app? If it has a guestbook (EventPixel, Wedibox, GuestCam, GuestPix, Kululu, WedUploader all do on paid plans), use it. One code on the table, one dashboard afterwards, nothing extra to pay.
- Written, voice or video? Voice: any of the phones, or EventPixel, Wedibox, GuestCam, WedUploader. Video: Wedibox, GuestPix, Kululu. Written only: everything.
- Are the important people in the room? If not, you need a dial-in or remote route: LifeOnRecord by design, GuestCam with the number add-on. Phones and browser guestbooks only reach people who are there.
- Is the phone part of the decor? Then rent one and enjoy it; guests queue for it after the speeches. Just plan the second QR sign and the return shipping, and know that the recordings will not live with your photos unless you upload them there yourself.

Is an audio guestbook phone worth it?
If you want the moment as much as the recordings, yes: guests love the handset and the messages are more candid than typed ones. If you only want the voices, a browser audio guestbook on a QR app records the same thing for no extra cost and keeps the recordings with your photos; you lose the prop.
Can guests who are not at the wedding leave a message?
